Year in which Pitchfork’s overall ratings has the highest percentage
The first objective considered during the initial stages of the project was to find out which year of publication did Pitchfork give the "best" reviews. Since the data is for music reviews that were published between the years 1999-2021, there will be 23 seperate elements to consider. By aggregating the data I was able to calculate the average review scores for each year. In order to better show the rank of each year I sorted the values in descending order. I implemented a lollipop chart to draw more attention to the data values.
From the lollipop chart we see that surprisingly Pitchfork has rated 2021 as the best reviewed year in music with an average review score of 7.22. The year 2020 was a close second with 7.20 and 2001 was the third highest at 7.16. Some notable albums from the year 2021 was Tyler the Creator: Call Me If You Get Lost, L’Rain: Fatigue, and Jazmine Sullivan: Heaux Tales. What stood out the most from this visualization was how close the average scores were for each year, ranging from 6.6 - 7.2. For clarity I added two interactive buttons to sort the order of the chart. From score rank to order by year.
